A high-performance and accessible website for a global non-profit specializing in AI-powered journalism and fact-checking.

The Goal

The core challenge of this project went beyond a visual facelift; it was a mission of clarity and accessibility. Meedan operates at the sophisticated intersection of global journalism, AI ethics, and community health—concepts that can often feel dense or abstract.

The goal was to overhaul the website with a fresh brand identity while simultaneously re-engineering the design and content strategy to be radically intuitive. I needed to ensure that regardless of a visitor's technical background, they could immediately understand the organization’s impact, navigate years of research, and engage with their open-source tools without friction.

Design Strategy

  • Visual direction: I implemented a brand evolution created by Kipp Jones that moved away from clinical tech aesthetics toward a vibrant, "knowledge network" concept. This included a refined logo featuring interlocking scripts to evoke hyperlinks and linguistic pathways.
  • User Experience: I restructured the information architecture to prioritize "Our Tools" and "Our Work." By implementing a robust filtering system for their research papers and blog posts, I ensured that academics and journalists could find specific data points across multiple languages and regions.

Development Execution

  • Structure: The entire project was built using Webflow and the Finsweet Client-First system. This was crucial, as it allows their internal team to maintain a clean, organized class structure that stays scalable as they add new programs.
  • Custom Functionality:
    • Advanced CMS Filtering: Used Finsweet Attributes to allow users to sort trough years of academic research and blog posts.
    • CMS-Driven Resources: developed a custom CMS structure, simplifying content management.
  • Responsiveness: Given Meedan’s global audience, I optimized the site for low-bandwidth environments and ensured perfect performance across all mobile breakpoints.
  • Modular Component Library: To streamline the build and ensure brand consistency, I developed a comprehensive library of reusable Webflow Components. This allowed for a "Lego-block" approach to page building, where complex layouts could be assembled rapidly while maintaining pixel-perfect accuracy.

The Results

The Outcome: The 2026 redesign successfully consolidated Meedan’s various sub-brands into a single, unified source of truth. The site saw a significant improvement in engagement on the "Research" hub and a streamlined user flow for partner inquiries.

Client Feedback:

"The new design finally matches the scale and sophistication of the work we do. It feels like a true reflection of our vision for a more equitable internet."
